Aaron Jones: A Tribute to Military Families

Instructions

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones has been selected as one of three finalists for this year’s prestigious Salute to Service Award, an honor co-sponsored by USAA. Jones stands alongside Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson and San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, all vying for this distinguished accolade. The recipient of the award will be unveiled during the NFL Honors ceremony, slated for February 5th in San Francisco.

Jones' dedication to military families stems from a deep personal connection, as his own family boasts a proud history of service. His late father, Alvin Sr., honorably served 29 years in the Army, while his mother, Vurgess, contributed 27 years to the Army. His elder brother, Xavier, is currently an active member of the Air Force. Demonstrating their collective commitment, Aaron and his twin brother, Alvin Jr., co-founded the A&A All the Way Foundation, a non-profit organization specifically designed to uplift and assist children within military families. Furthermore, throughout the 2025 season, Jones consistently hosted a military family at each home game, personally extending his gratitude and ensuring they enjoyed a memorable experience.

Should Jones emerge victorious, USAA has pledged a $25,000 donation to a charitable organization of his choosing. This generous contribution will be further amplified by the NFL Foundation, which will match the donation with an additional $25,000. This recognition not only celebrates Jones' individual efforts but also highlights the enduring spirit of service and community support that defines the NFL. It is a powerful reminder that sports can be a platform for significant positive impact, inspiring both fans and athletes alike to contribute to the greater good.
