The redesign of a 36-square-meter apartment in Rio de Janeiro began with an unexpected focal point: a striking wall of Portuguese tiles. The initial vision for this project was to convert a small living space into an expansive, fluid loft. However, during the renovation, the discovery of two structural columns presented an unforeseen challenge, making the original open-plan concept unfeasible.
Embracing these newly revealed architectural constraints, the design team at Atelier Glushkó shifted their strategy.
